Deanna is an international writer, performer and facilitator.

Currently the third recipient of the Kevin Elyot Award at University of Bristol’s Theatre Collection. Commissions include: SPOTY 2018 - Dina Asher Smith (BBC Sports), Under The Skin (St Paul’s Cathedral), Now We Are Here (Young Vic), and Women Who Spit (BBC IPlayer). She co-curates two leading spoken word events: Chill Pill and Come Rhyme With Me and is on the board of Safe Ground.

In development with Feral D vs Damsel (Raise Dark Theatre), Matter a creative experiment and, EARTH: The Show (written with Gemma Rogers) and a book of self-critique. Also founder of Meet The Bacchae a blog of mother’s stories of escape and Take Back Control (TBC) a prompt book for mums who are feeling at a loss.

Debut collection I Did It Too is out now.

  • Teaches the Writing Poetry for Performance module with Benjamin Zephaniah at Brunel University.

  • Member of prominent poetry collectives; Keats House Poetry Forum and Point Blank Poets (Biennale UK Artist International award 2011) << it's within the decade

  • Previous international trips include: Anglo Arts, San Miguel poetry Festival, Vancouver Writers Fest, International Festival Of Authors Toronto, facilitator and judge for the Beirut poetry slam, South Africa (several), Zimbabwe and Sudan (British Council).
